Grow a Christmas Tree in Reindeer Poo?
...or a Rose in Elephant poo or a Banana plant in Rhino poo. It might sound daft as a brush but the boffins at the Natural History Museum have teamed up with British zoo's to make use of one of natures best fertilisers. All the poo is germ free, odourless and contained in a biodegradable grow box along with a seed.
Elephant, reindeer and rhino poo in a box
In the wild, elephants, reindeer and rhinos eat and then scatter a wide range of seeds in their dung, providing an ideal nutrient-rich place for young plants to grow. This dung is taken from UK zoos and safari parks, and is treated to make it germ and odour free. Simply sow the seeds, water the box and watch the plants grow:
rose seeds in elephant poo
banana seeds in rhino poo
pine seeds in reindeer poo.
